My name is Cory Sowell. I've been a Licensed Massage Therapist, in the Athens/Madison/Huntsville area of North Alabama, since December 2020. I worked in autobody-supply-sales starting in 2006. I managed a "mom and pops" store in Huntsville for six years. The company didn't survive. Later, I was working in an actual autobody repair shop, when I went back to supply-sales. In 2015, I injured my back. This is why they say, "Lift with your legs."
After this, there were days where I would tweak the injury, then spend nearly a week lying on the couch, trying to heal. A graduate of The Madison School of Massage Therapy in October 2018, I believe massage therapy is an important part of a healthy lifestyle, especially as we age.
I'm often asked by clients, "How I got into massage?"
In the spring of 2017, I had decided to finally try a new approach to achieving a better work-life balance. The idea was introduced to me, and it grew from there.
I was privileged to attend the Madison School of Massage Therapy. Professionalism is one of the imperative aspects that LMTs are required, along with patience and listening to the clients.
I began my career at Salon 921, in Huntsville. This is one of the absolute best salons in Huntsville, I can say this having worked there from June 2021-2023. Afterwards, I took on a second job in summer 2023. It was here that I was able to work on hundreds of different people from all walks of life. This gave me a lot of experience and taught me many new valuable strategies for dealing with knotted tissue. The eighteen months spent working here were fantastic. I was then convinced; I needed to strike out on my own. Conveniently located at 8840 Madison Blvd., TPM offers a great spot for a massage. It's a very peaceful and serene atmosphere.
The approach I take towards the job is very "therapeutic" in nature. Clients should be relaxed, post-session. One of the most important aspects of a good massage session is relaxing all muscles completely to the best of the client's ability. Also, deep breathing is highly encouraged to keep the blood pumping. This is very important to remove tough knotted areas of muscle fibers. Communication on expectations or adjustments are very important, prior to and after, each session. The client's comfort, trust, and relaxation are top priority. Feel free to call or text anytime. -W.
